Most cleansing balms list Aqua — water — at the top of the label. It bulks the bottle, lowers the manufacturing cost, and does very little for your skin.

When we formulated HydRosa, our COSMOS Certified Organic cleansing balm, we removed it. No added water. No fillers. Every drop in the bottle had to earn its place.

The problem with water in your cleansing balm

In conventional cleansing balms, water often makes up 60–70% of a formula. It is the cheapest, easiest base — and it does almost no active work for your skin barrier.

Worse, water-heavy formulas need extra synthetic preservatives and emulsifiers to stay stable. For sensitive skin, that load can quietly trigger irritation, breakouts, and a weakened moisture barrier.

What replaces water in HydRosa
