COSMOS — short for Cosmetic Organic and Natural Standard — is the most widely recognised certification for organic and natural cosmetics in the world. It was developed by five of Europe’s leading certification bodies (Ecocert, Soil Association, ICEA, BDIH, Cosmebio) and is administered by independent auditors.
A COSMOS Certified Organic product is verified across the full chain:
- The origin of every ingredient — where it came from, how it was grown
- The sustainability of how it was processed
- The exclusion of GMOs, parabens, phthalates, synthetic fragrances, petrochemicals, and silicones
- The packaging and environmental footprint
- The traceability of every batch
A formula does not pass these checks by accident. It passes because every decision behind it was made with the standard in mind.
Why we pursued certification
We could have written “organic” on the bottle and let the word do the work. Many brands do.
We chose certification because we wanted our promise to be verifiable, not just believable. The COSMOS standard does not care about our story or our intentions. It cares about what is in the bottle, where it came from, and how it was made. That neutrality is the point.
